fresh air

“If you wish your children to think deep thoughts, to know the holiest emotions, take them to the woods and hills, and give them the freedom of the meadows; the hills purify those who walk upon them.”
Richard Jefferies

intiving decorations
loveoutloud.138
i asked gabrielle to gather golden leaves with the little ones. she later helped me give the house a fall feeling by placing the leaves in bowls, and dishes.

new do for the doggie
loveoutloud.96
shep has been with us since he was a newborn puppy. he’s a purebred poodle. seven years old in human years. i call him my circus dog because he jumps so high. he is an outside dog well skilled at catching pigeons and mice. they say that poodles are hunting dogs and especially good at retrieving prey from the water. he’s a well loved pet for us. getting his hair trimmed every once in a while is a way i show him we care.

colorful lunch buffet
loveoutloud.94
they have to put at least one of everything on their plate but they can put as much of anything they like. these are my favorite kind of lunches with my kids. they feel like they have a say in what they are eating, and they are eating food that’s good for them. the more color in the food the healthier it is. and chopping is my favorite part of food prep. everybody wins. i love giving my family good food.

a walk in the park
loveoutloud.88
a walk in the park with a friend and a heart to heart talk with her which shed some light on some hard subjects. so grateful for honest friends who value reciprocity and authenticity.

llama love
loveoutloud.71
we saw: sheep, chickens, goats, donkeys, horses, seagulls, dogs, falcons, pigeons, and cows. but what made me smile the most were the dozens of llamas roaming wild on the mountainside. i love llamas.

take them to places i love
loveoutloud.70
where the air’s thin and cold. where snow patches beckon. where quiet wraps your whole being in stillness. where trekking makes breathing a work out. where freezing cold mountain brook water quenches climbing thirst. where here is far away.

i love the snow!
loveoutloud.62
our first winter rain of the year put snow on mt. tunari. a few days in a row like this and we will have to take a little drive up the mountain to play in the lovely freezing cold white stuff. yes!

hope
loveoutloud.56
when hope that others can change fades, love starts to die. hope peers into the darkness of the dirt, below the surface grime of life, and sees seeds. hope knows that every person’s existence bears the quality of a seed. when treated right that seed can grow. when treated right people push beyond the dirt, draw nutrients from hardship, and break out to the light, changed, different, a miraculous glory to behold. when i hope, i love.
